Yamas Workshop

Did you miss my Yamas workshop in January? In preparation for my series on the Niyamas starting August 23rd, I will be doing a repeat of the Yamas workshop. The Yamas are the very foundation of the eight-fold path of yoga. They are what Pantajali considers the “great, mighty, universal vows” necessary for yogis to progress along a spiritual path. Examine your own thoughts, actions, feelings, and personal growth as you learn the depth and breadth of these vows through gentle yoga, meditation, and discussion.

Back-to-School Workshop

Saturday, August 25th 1:30-4:00 P.M.

Public school teachers by day and yoga teachers by night, Mindy Madsen and myself will lead a practical back-to-school workshop designed to give elementary and secondary school teachers accessible yoga poses and simple meditation techniques to cope with stress and change. The first half of the workshop will focus on bringing yoga & meditation into the classroom, and the second half of the workshop will focus on teacher self-care.

Yoga poses will be Yin based (long-held poses designed to target connective tissues, ligaments, joints, and bones) and will focus on areas of the body that hold stress–shoulders, hips, and back. Yin Yoga is accessible for all body types and no yoga experience is needed.

Meditation techniques will come from a variety of traditions, and will include mindfulness, body awareness, and mantra.

A raffle with back-to-school goodies, including a 10-class pass, will be held at the end of the workshop!

Teachers: $20 in advance/$25 at the door
